Jon Everist scores The Lamplighters League

Posted on October 3, 2023 by Dan Goldwasser

Last August, the multi award-winning and ASCAP-nominated composer Jon Everist took to the world-renowned Abbey Road Studio 1 to record the soundtrack for the new video game, The Lamplighters League. With a rich tapestry of musical elements, Everist’s score promises to be a thrilling accompaniment to the game’s pulp adventure narrative.  We’re thrilled to share photos from the scoring sessions with our readers!

Everist, known for his work on franchises like Overwatch 2, BATTLETECH, Shadowrun, and The Solitaire Conspiracy, collaborated closely with a team of A-list musicians to bring the game’s musical world to life. The Lamplighters League is a pulp adventure set in an alternate 1930s. Players will navigate a world filled with intrigue, danger, and heroism as they work to thwart the plans of the sinister Banished Court.

“The first piece of music I wrote for The Lamplighters League was the Main Theme suite, almost 5 years ago. We always knew the soundtrack needed to punch above its weight class, but I never imagined I’d be in Studio 1 at Abbey Road hearing it played by some of the finest musicians in the world,” says Everist of his score. With its blend of jazz-inspired noir and heart-pumping adventure, the game takes a lot of stylistic inspiration from the pulpy action-adventure films of the 80’s and 90’s. “There’s a throughline of fun and playfulness in these classic scores,” continues Everist. “Evil occultists trying to take over the world can’t seem to dampen the fact that saving the world is a damn good time.”
